DAF is a unit operation for separation of solids and semisolid (floc)
particles from the water. Saturated air-water mixture is injected in
bottom of the tank containing water to be treated (which is already
coagulated and flocculated). The sudden decrease in pressure of the saturated
air-water mixture caused release of micro-bubbles, typically 10 to 50 micron.
The micro bubbles adhere to or enmesh in the suspended composite particles,
which then rises to the surface because of their reduced density and form a
layer of solids known as float. Skimming operation removes the float.
N-R DAF Clarifiers are most effective solid-liquid separation units for
applications involving low-temperature water, low to moderate turbidity
water producing low-density floc and for separation of low-density
colloidal matter. They are small, compact and robust, has small footprint
and utilize the space most efficiently. The clarifiers come with highly
efficient saturated water distribution system; and high efficiency DAF
recirculation pumps or saturation vessels to produce water supersaturated
with air. The NR-DAF clarifier and auxiliary equipment are easy to install,
operate and maintain.
