Napier-Reid has been awarded two contracts for the design, supply and commissioning of a package WTP and STP for the Nipissing First Nation Community. At the present time, Napier-Reid is currently finishing the mechanical and electrical design of the systems in coordination with the consultant.
Nipissing WTP
The WTP has been designed to treat water from a groundwater supply at a design flow rate of 150 USGPM. According to the quality results provided to Napier-Reid, the water from the wells presents high levels of hardness, Fe-Mn, TDS and DOC.
Napier-Reid's system has been designed for softening, iron-manganese and DOC removal. The system is composed of a pressure contact tank, three pressure filtration vessels, two ion-exchange pressure softening vessels, chemical dosing systems, brine system (For ion-exchange resin regeneration)and PLC control panel. The system has the following design characteristics:
-Design Flow Rate: 150 USGPM -System Design Pressure: 100 psi. -Filtering Rate: 6 USGPM/ft2 -Filter Media: Napier-Reid's MD-80 catalytic filter media. -Softener Exhaustation Surface Flow Rate: 7.2 USGPM/ft2 -Resin Type: Strong Acid Cation gel type. -Regenerant: Brine solution (Co-Flow) -Pressure Vessels design and fabricated to Section VIII, Division 1 of the ASME code.
Nipissing STP
A Napier-Reid package extended aeration plant was selected for a design average flow of 382 m3/day, Napier-Reid's package plant includes: aeration systems, Napier-Reid's airlift pumps for RAS/WAS, tertiary gravity filtration package, UV disinfection, sewage and sludge pumps, blowers, instrumentation and PLC control panel.
