In Summer 2007, Napier-Reid finished the installation, start-up and commissioning of the Leslie Frost Centre WTP in Dorset, Ontario. Napier-Reid provided a water filtration system comprise of Napier-Reid inline static mixers, Napier-Reid conventional gravity filter trains, electrical valves, sensors, chemical feed systems, booster pumps, backwash pumps, air scour blower and PLC control panel.
Napier-Reid’s filter trains were custom designed to treat low colour, low turbidity, cold water at a design flow of 600 m3/day to Ontario Drinking Water Standards. The design parameters of the system include, among others, the following:
Inline Static Mixer’s Velocity Gradient: 10755 s-1 Flocculator’s Velocity Gradient: 60 s-1 to 20 s-1 Clarifier’s Surface Loading Rate: 2.44 m/h Maximum Filtration Rate: 10 m/h Initial Filter’s Head Loss: 423 mm
Napier-Reid’s field service representatives and senior control engineer were on site during the commissioning phase of the project in order to provide support and assistance to the customer and consultant.
